Beer & Road Trip
Beer & Road Trip
My dad is 84 years old, I had a few days compulsory leave (Long and boring story, but the company where I work was hacked and all systems had to be shut down), so I decided to take my dad out for a day trip, with the old VW.
We first went to the historic mining town of Cullinan, where we started off with a nice breakfast and coffee!!
Straight after breakfast we went to the Cockpit craft brewery, which was just across the street from where we had breakfast. They were actually not open for business, as they were still preparing things after lockdown and the alcohol ban we had, but the owner, got us some beers!!
The beer he got for us was the Black Widow Sweet Stout - nice!!
This beer comes in a 440ml bottle and has 5% alcohol.
It pours pitch black and has a very nice biscuit color head!! This beer tasted great, I loved it - Looks and personality!!
We visited another pub, in a small town called Rayton, which was nothing to write about and then we went back to the outskirts of Pretoria, to Bernie's Brewery. This is a very small, but nice craft brewery, which was closed down for some time, but re-opened under a new owner. Below is their menu.
We ordered their on tap lager, which was not on the menu.
This beer came in a 500ml glass, and had a very clear yellowish color, with a small white head on top. I tasted good, but was no match for the stout!!
They have a nice outside sitting area, where we sat. We also had a hamburger and chips for lunch.
My dad and I enjoyed our day out tremendously, we had great fun and a nice trip with some good food and beer on top of it!!
I hope you liked the post as much as I liked writing it.
I hope you have a wonderful day!!
