How Do You Get Rid of Bed Bugs?

in #bedbugs5 years ago (edited)
  • Clean bedding, linens, curtains, and clothing using hot water and dry. Items that can't be washed like stuffed animals, shoes, and other items in the dryer and run on high for 40 minutes.

  • Scrub mattress seams using a stiff brush to remove bugs and their eggs before vacuuming.

  • Vacuum bed and surrounding area often. After each vacuuming, immediately place the vacuum cleaner bag in a plastic bag and place outside.

  • Encase mattress and box springs in zip covers.

  • Make repairs to cracked plaster and peeling wallpaper to prevent bugs from hiding.

  • Get rid of clutter around the bed.

Yikes! We even have those in the coldest parts of Alaska, they are so tough! My mom used to have me check under the covers at the foot of the beds if we stayed in a hotel, so glad I never saw one!!! 🤮

That's good that your mom told you to check because hotel rooms are known for having them... :( Glad you didn't see any, they can leave some real nasty bites. I haven't seen any before either, thankfully.
