Toning DIY Rhassoul Clay Body Beauty Mask

Purifying DIY Rhassoul Clay Beauty Mask with essential oils

When I began my holistic health journey one of the things I struggled most with was altering my beauty cupboard to make it toxic and chemical free. There weren’t so many organic, natural brands available, and the ones that were cost a bomb and were near impossible to source!
I now have a great beauty routine that incorporates natural, holistic ingredients and products. I’ve experimented with countless ingredients and found what works for me.
People have been using rhassoul clay for centuries on their hair, face, and body due to its wonderful cleansing properties. It’s also completely natural and makes a great detoxifying hair and face mask.

Pamper, tone and purify your skin with Rhassoul clay mask

As I mentioned above, you wouldn’t use rhassoul clay on a daily basis, this is purely for pampering, toning and purifying the skin. Clay can be difficult to work with, not to mention super messy! You will also need to prepare the clay in advance. You can do this by mixing a few tbsps of rhassoul clay with half a cup of filtered water. Continue stirring the mixture until it forms a thick liquid paste.

Mix a 1 to 2 tbsp of your favourite oil (rose-hip, jojoba and apricot are all great options) with the premade clay mixture and apply a medium thick layer to your face. Leave for 20–30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
Alternatively, you could mix the rhassoul clay with a dried herb if you have oily skin. Simply mix your premade clay with a natural herb of your choice. Neem powder is a great herb for treating acne due to its antibacterial properties.

This premade rhassoul clay mixture can also deeply clean and condition the hair and scalp. Simply apply it from root to tip using a comb for even distribution. Rinse thoroughly, comb your hair and rinse again until it’s completely gone.
You could also make a deep conditioning hair treatment using rhassoul clay. Simply mix ½ a cup of clay with an equal amount of coconut milk. Then add a ¼ cup of rose water and ¼ cup of water. Mix thoroughly before adding a tbsp of olive, coconut or jojoba oil.
Apply the mixture to your hair (I’d skip the roots as it will make it super greasy) and leave covered with a shower cap for one hour before rinsing out thoroughly.
