LIPSENSE – THE LONG LASTING LIP COLOUR THAT DOESN’T BUDGE

I have been a lipstick junkie for years and have loved trying different brands, colours, textures – you name it. I have two entire drawers dedicated to my lipstick collection so you know the obsession is real. When I first heard of LipSense I was instantly intrigued. It promised all day wear without budging or smudging and at first, I thought it was too good to be true. A lipstick that doesn’t come off on your cup, or needs to be re-applied after you eat? What is this sorcery? I won’t blame you if you are a skeptic right about now, because so was I, but I am now a believer.

What is LipSense?

LipSense is a waterproof, budge-proof, smudge-proof and kiss proof colour that lasts up to 18 hours. It is not a lipstick, nor a stain, it is a patented adhesive lip colour that molecularly bonds to your lips to give you lasting colour. Senegence, the creators of LipSense have been in business since the 1990’s and just recently have gained serious momentum in the beauty industry. With social media and sites like Buzzfeed picking up on LipSense, it’s not only given women/men the confidence to wear lipstick on the daily, but it’s also given them the opportunity for (extra) income potential.

The LipSense System

LipSense is a three step system. You first apply your three thin layers of lip colour and seal it with a moisturizing gloss. Made a mistake? The Oops! Remover will help correct any mistakes you’ve made during the application process, or when you’re ready to take off your colour at night. The gloss is a vital step in this system because it is what cures and bonds the colour to your lips. It’s formulated with shea butter and vitamin E so after wearing LipSense for a few weeks you will notice that your lips are healthier, plumper and hydrated. What’s great is that you are able to layer your LipSense colours to create beautiful custom shades. Two shades will give you 8 different colour combinations just by mixing and matching.

Lipsense Application

Since Lipsense isn’t like your traditional lipstick, it is applied a bit differently than you are used to. You keep your lips tight and with a very thin layer, glide the wand across your lips to deposit the colour all in one direction. You then wait 3-5 seconds with your mouth open for the layer to dry, not rubbing your lips together, and apply again. Why the three layers? The first layer is broken down by the body’s PH levels, the third layer is broken down by the environment (eating, drinking) and the second layer is what stays in place. How does LipSense wear?

I’m sure if you’ve heard of LipSense before coming across this post than you’ve seen some smudge tests floating around the internet so you’ll know that this stuff lives up to the claims. As a lover of tea and lattes, of course, I have surprised quite a few women while visiting my local Starbucks. I’ve been asked, “How is your lipstick not coming off on your cup?” on several occasions and I get really excited telling them about this amazing product that is unlike anything else out there. I put on my colour in the morning and don’t have to worry about it coming off while drinking or chatting away. The only time I have experienced any fading is on the waterline, and that happens when I eat something of the greasy variety. It’s always recommended to reapply your gloss throughout the day and before meals not only to keep your lips hydrated but also to keep oils and such from breaking down your colour.

I have tried many long wearing lip colours and none have lasted as well as LipSense. I am now happily a crazy lip lady (more than I already was) and I couldn’t be happier!
