BDCommunity Photo Challenge
These photos were taken in three different locations, all within a 20-mile radius of where I live, nowhere that people would flock to in order to see the wildlife but enough to make for some really cool (and lucky) wildlife shots.
I started photography about 4 months ago and decided to turn to wildlife photography just over a month ago. I would get down to my local bird blind here In Milton Keynes at 6 am and wait for hours and hours until I was happy enough to go home and post what I've been lucky enough to capture.
All of my photos are taken with a 1D Mkiv Canon camera with a Tamron 150-600mm lens. The three still images were all taken at 1/800th shutter speed with quite a high ISO due to the time of day. The aperture for the swan was a challenge to figure out at first because of the highlights from the Swan's white feathers would blow out so I eventually went with more of a detailed and sharper looking image at an f/20 aperture so I could retain the detail I wanted.
This is my entry to the BDCommunity Black and White photo challenge.

thank you so much, really appreciate it.
hi @matthew-clayton, your photos are beautiful !! I love the one with the moving horses because it looks like they are dancing! you have captured them in their intimate game and they look really real!
congratulation and thank you to share
That's really kind of you, thank you. It's just a mixture of luck and being in the right place at the right time. Appreciate the kind words.
Great b/w shots!
Thanks, man appreciate it.
Congratulations and all the best for your new passion..Now a days everyone wanted to be a photographer especially when high end mobile cameras are making it easy for many. But only few people go into the real way of handling it as a passion and I think wild life photography is one such area.
It also need some high level of patience to deal with an adventurous mind to explore those places if you really wanted to make it to the next level.
The photos are excellent. Black and White photos have special charmness always and I am one of the real fan of it. The swans look like is in a perfect frame. But the last one - what it is a dear - seems to not upto the mark, is it out of focus..or if your timing was like its face turns to left might had been a more good effort.
But great going, Keep it up.. Keep steeming..
Thanks a lot! Yeah, the last picture is of a deer and the whole point of it (for me) was to have the face in darkness because I really liked the look of it, I get what you're saying and it was more of an experimental picture but that's the way I wanted it to look like. Again, thank you for the comment.
Everyone have their own taste and methods, and good to see the way you are trying it in different way as you said it as experimental shots..
Thanks for the understanding and Keep steeming
