Thanks for a well thought out and well written article. I think everyone except the Angels front office saw this coming. I don't blame Pujols for taking this contract over the St Louis offer. He'll always have his legacy in St. Louis. The fault lies with the Angels for not accepting the reality that Pujols was certainly going to decline as he aged.

I find it funny that the Yankees repeatedly show all the MLB teams the danger of signing aging superstars to ridiculously long contracts, but some teams do it anyway. The Cardinals were one of the few teams to think with their heads and not their hearts.

Thanks, Chops. Pujols may always "have his legacy" by the Arch, but it is tainted forever, as if he had had an affair or something like that -- the "Yeah, but ..." sort of thing. Never needed to happen, and I'm not a Cards fan.
