Easiest Way to Get Around Barcelona City Center + Airport Ride Return Tip

in #barcelona6 years ago (edited)

You get to Barcelona city center, great. How to best get around?

Besides walking on foot ... the Barcelona Metro is another way to get around. And best of all, it's cheap.

You can get the T10 Zone 1 card, and you can get to majority of Barcelona's sites for just 10,20 Euro.

That's just about 1 Euro per ride. Quite cheap!

Below is what a T10 Zone 1 card looks like. Note that you can only use it within Zone 1.

How can you track the number of times you've used it?

Simply flip your card over and look at the back.

You will have a printed line "each" time you use it.

After 10th time, then the card won't work.

So what's the Barcelona airport return ride trick?

Be sure to save one last trip on your T10 Zone 1 card ... and even though the card front says you "can't" use it on the Barcelona Metro to get to airport ... but it doesn't say you can't use it on the Renfe/Rodiales train that gets to the airport.

The trick is, ride your journey on the metro anywhere from starting point and get it to the Barcelona Sants station.

Then transfer up to the top level where you'll find train turnstiles for Renfe/Rodiales. Find Platform 9/10 (which is where the airport trains go to, and use that same ticket to go through the turnstile. Boom done.

You just paid 1 Euro for your airport ride from Barcelona Sants city center to the airport.

If you paid Metro ride from city center to the airport riding "only" on metro, it would cost you about 4,60 Euros.

Has anyone else been to Barcelona and used this small trick to get to airport cheap?
