PEACE PRESIDENT WITH CHARISMA: MR. OBAMA {hindsight}
“Charisma" Until now the word had lost its worth. Until now the word had been watered-down,
dumbed-down to the point of meaning nothing.
But in its original incarnation "charisma" packed a punch. It is strongly believed the word
“CHARISHMA” refers to the leaders who were so personally extraordinary they had followers who
are intellectually or morally enslaved. Charismatic relationships were so powerful they were
symbiotic, with leaders and followers each equally engaged, each equally dependent viceversa.
I personally feel distinction between charismatic authority, which is purely personal, and legal (or
rational) authority, which is derived from position, and also traditional authority, typically based on
lineage. What makes charismatic authority so rare, and so potential, was that it-- unlike the other
two-- require as a necessary accompaniment an emotional element compatible almost to a religious
experience. In charismatic relationships followers think of their leaders as being near superhuman,
as being gifted with qualities so special they deserve devotion and even blind faith.
During the last several decades the word charisma has been freely applied to celebrities, to indicate
they are somehow attractive or appealing. Now though we have the real thing. Now, for the first
time in a long time, Americans have a genuinely charismatic leader who, as I imagine, has his
followers totally in tow, as passionately committed as they are deeply convinced.
What was striking about the inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th president of the United States
was the degree to which the day mirrored the months that preceded it. The fact that some two
million were present for the occasion - an unprecedented number - was somehow not astonishing.
This was the man who by raising small sums of money from large numbers of people filled his
coffers to overflowing. This was the man who played Pied Piper to legions of activists, who freely,
eagerly, dedicated their lives to his cause. This was the man whose silver tongue had moved many
to the point of tears, had moved them to move mountains to make him president.
Mr. President made his personal icy cool the trademark of his campaign, the tenor of his White
House and the hallmark of an early run of successes at home and abroad. But as the glamour wears
off and a long, frustrating summer wears on, he is being forced to improvise — stooping to respond
to political foes and adjusting his tactics and outward manner for the trench warfare of a legislative
agenda. The root of the change is one that faces every president: Economic and international
realities that resist political charm .The cool president has turned hot on the stump, stripping to
shirtsleeves to lambaste doubters in New Jersey Thursday. He departed from his remarks to accept
a Republican challenge to take personal ownership of the economy.once he said “there is no liberal
America and conservative America but there is united states of America” and It’s the answer
spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian,
Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the
world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will
be, the United States of America.
Presence is important... It is the very first step of making a first impression. As numerous elements
make up charisma. Charisma is a gift and few leaders have charisma, I strongly believe that after
Martin Luther King, Barack obama is the most charismatic leader to come after a long time. Long
live obama and long live America were all the rest of the nation last long.
