Mapped: Where to see Banksy's surviving artwork
ristol celebrated the arrival of a new Banksy this week after the elusive street artist snuck into a primary school to paint a playground wall. The piece, which depicts a young child playing with a burning tyre and will no doubt be a talking point at the next PTA meeting, was done as a thank you to Bridge Farm pupils who voted to name a house after him.
Works by Banksy fetch princely sums at auctions, but the school’s head teacher, Geoff Mason, said the piece is inspirational and has no plans to remove or sell it. Street art is, by its very nature, impermanent – it gets removed, painted over and vandalised by other street artists – but its ephemerality is all part of its charm.
From Bethlehem to the Bronx, Banksy has left his mark at hundreds of locations around the world and many of his most iconic pieces have now been lost forever. However, Telegraph Travel has tracked down a handful of works that still endure today. Click the icons on the map below to find out more about these paintings. Pictured here are some of the survivors, though a number of these works have now been defaced. See them while they're
in the fuckin fiuto bit station road..
