Bangladesh's first artificial satellite 'Bangabandhu Satellite' is being launched from the launch pad in Florida on May 4.
BTRC chairman Shahjahan Mahmud told bdnews24.com on Wednesday, May 4, 'SpaceX' has decided to launch 'Bangabandhu Satellite'.
On December 16, the preparation of the Bangabandhu satellite was being launched from the launch pad of Cape Kepavarel in Florida through the Falcon-9 rocket of the United States private space exploration and technology company 'SpaceX'.
But the hurricane Arma was severely damaged due to the Florida launch of satellite launch from the launch pad. As a result, the satellite launch of various countries has been delayed and Bangladesh is inundated.
The construction work of the Bangabandhu satellite was done in France's Thalas Elinya Space Facility. After the construction, examination, review and transfer, it is sent by the special cargo aircraft to carry it on the launch of the Cape Purchase Vehicle.
On October 21, 2015, the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement approved the proposal to buy this satellite system. After that, BTRC signed an agreement with Thalase to buy satellite system at Tk two billion.
For the funding of 'Bangabandhu Satellite' launch, the agreement was signed with Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) about Tk 1,400 crore last year.
The government hopes that after launching this satellite, Bangladesh will save 14 million dollars per year on foreign satellite rentals.
There will be 40 transponders in the Bangabandhu satellite, 20 of which will be kept for use in Bangladesh and the rest will be possible to earn foreign currency.
Ground Station of Bangabandhu Satellite has been set up in Joydebpur of Gazipur and Betubuniya of Rangamati.
