Guess What Steemians? I am Pregnant! Part 2

in #baby7 years ago (edited)

Our first appointment with the midwife went as expected. I peed in a cup, which was very easy. It used to be hard to pee on demand but now that someone is LITERALLY sitting on my bladder, it seems like I need to pee every five minutes. If I don't get to go when I feel the need, the urgency becomes so bad, that I honestly think I will pee myself. So I run to the bathroom, knocking others out of my way as I go. When I finally get there and sit down, it's always a disappointment at just how little comes out compared to how urgent the feeling was. Like my body is saying "Haha, Just Kidding!" . . . . Really? Really. So frustrating.

After that we talked about morning sickness.

It's really a joke that it's called "morning sickness". It should be called "all the time sickness", because honestly in the first trimester when DON'T you feel nauseated? Wake up, nauseous. Move too quickly, nauseous. Smell something that you used to love but now . . . nauseous. Thankfully I have found constant eating, or chewing ice to help me personally. Some people say ginger, peppermint, mango, or saltines help them. For me, all those items made me want to get sick even more. . . . So I stick with eating and ice chips.

Next on the list was vitamins, eating right, weight, blood pressure and of course giving the many vials of blood. If you have ever been pregnant, you know that when you first go in (and a few follow up times as well) they take enough blood from you to feed a vampire . . . or two. I mean really, why do they need all that blood anyway? What are they doing with it? When you ask, you get the usual "Oh, you know. Standard testing: STI's (mandated by the state), blood typing, Rh factor testing, a blood count, antibodies testing (chicken pox and MMR)" and the list continues. After a while, you stop listening and just start nodding. I swear though, they must also be feeding a vampire somewhere in there too. . . .

Then we set up the appointment everyone can't wait for. Our first ultrasound. In just a few short weeks, we will see our baby for the first time and hear it's heart beat. That makes this all worth while.

'Till next time Steemians, keep steeming on!
