Stories from Sparrow House: Travelling with the babies.
Soon after our week in hospital with the twins, we had the opportunity to take a break in the beautiful mountain area of Montague. We were able to borrow our son-in-laws car that is much bigger than ours and packed our trailer to the hilt with 3 camp cots, a twin and single stroller, and a mountain of baby paraphernalia. After 4 days the babies settled into their new environment, and then it was time to come home.
Because Lee is much smaller than Theo, who is almost as big as Danny the boys are often seen as twins. Sometimes it is just easier to smile and nod than to try and explain that the boys are not related. I love dressing them in similar clothes and that often adds to the confusion.
At first I used to take everything but the kitchen sink when I went out with the babies. Now, depending on where we go and how long it will take, we have 2 different bags. For short trips like shopping or church, we have a small bag with space for 3 bottles, wipes and 6 nappies. For longer trips I have a bigger bag that can take more.
There is always at least one stroller in the boot of my car and an array of toys on the back seat.
Stories from Sparrow House is a collection of my thoughts and experiences as I go though the journey of being a Foster Mother, Safety Parent and Temporary Caregiver to 3 special needs babies one of which has VACTERYL Association. My hope is to raise awareness around VACTERYL Association by sharing our journey, as well as offer support to other foster and safety parents or parents with children who have this syndrome
Thanks for sharing.
