The Light of Mothman
In Point Pleasant, a small town in West Virginia, the year was 1966. Life in the town was quiet, but everything changed on a cold November night. Two young couples, Roger and Linda Scarberry and Steve

and Mary Mallette, decided to go for a drive around the area. They headed to a spot known as the "TNT," an abandoned site that had been used to store munitions during World War II.

As they drove, something strange caught their attention. A massive figure, about seven feet tall, seemed to be standing in the middle of the road. As they got closer, they saw that the creature had large, folded wings on its back, glowing red eyes, and a humanoid but distorted silhouette. Terrified, they sped away, but the creature pursued them, flying at an incredible speed, its wings flapping without making a sound.

The young couples managed to escape and reported the incident to the police. The local sheriff, initially skeptical, decided to investigate. To his surprise, he found claw marks on the car’s hood and strange footprints at the spot where the creature had been seen. In the following days, more witnesses came forward with sightings of the same entity, which became known as Mothman, the "Winged Man."

As sightings continued, the town began to experience a series of unexplained events. Strange lights appeared in the sky, phones rang with no one on the other end, and animals were found dead with mysterious wounds. The townspeople started to believe that Mothman was an omen of something terrible.

On December 15, 1967, their fears came true. The Silver Bridge, which connected Point Pleasant to Ohio, collapsed during rush hour, killing 46 people. Many linked the tragedy to the Mothman sightings, claiming the creature was a warning, a supernatural entity trying to alert them of the impending disaster.

After the bridge collapse, Mothman sightings dwindled. Some believe it disappeared because it had fulfilled its purpose; others think it’s still out there, watching and waiting for the next
