The Noonday Ghosts: Mystery of the Abandoned Well

in #avle8 months ago

When I was seven years old, two children of the same age in my village died under mysterious circumstances. This incident caused quite a stir at the time due to the numerous coincidences and eerie aspects. It was summer, and school was out for vacation. The two children, just over ten years old, ran off to play in the fields. In the countryside, venturing out at noon is considered inauspicious, even taboo, because this time is regarded as highly ominous.

Thus, during this period, the village is almost devoid of people. Perhaps due to their playful nature, the children disregarded these taboos and ran off to the fields outside the village. Coincidentally, there was an abandoned mechanical well in this field. The well wasn't deep and was used for irrigating the fields, but it was abandoned and completely dry. Two days later, villagers found the bodies of the children in this well.

The incident became the talk of the village, and then an old man stepped forward to say that at noon that day, he saw the two children rush past his door, their feet barely touching the ground. He tried to call out to them, but they didn't turn back and headed straight for the fields, disappearing from sight. The old man wondered if his eyesight was failing, so he didn't think much of it afterwards.

Upon hearing this, knowledgeable elders immediately said the children must have been carried by ghosts and thrown into the well.

At this time, a teenage boy strongly agreed with the elders. He had been picking up firewood nearby and happened to look into the well at noon. He saw a beautiful, large pearl emitting multicolored light. He felt an overwhelming urge to jump in.

Fortunately, he had a protective amulet from the temple. As he approached the well, a foul smell hit him, and he ran away from the field, horrified.

The police were alerted to the incident, but after investigation, they concluded it was an accidental death. The children had accidentally fallen into the abandoned well and suffocated due to the lack of oxygen.

Soon after, the villagers filled in the well, and more than twenty years have passed. However, whenever someone mentions it, there's a chilling fear that lingers.
