AUTISM INTERVENTION AND TREATMENT OPTIONS

We we attended a special needs adapted program based in cape town and and learnt allot, it was intense and it took the whole family to participate, but before I make my next comment I want to make it clear we learnt allot, and it did point us in the right direction, but a Warning they latch on to your emotional state and the need for help, so please hold on to your wallets, again some of it worked for Luca and some did not, but we were moving in the right direction.

The most important is early intervention and it crucial, It is very important to remember that one method or intervention may not work for every child. Remember that your child is unique, and work with their strengths to help them in the best way possible.

Intervention may consist of the following, but again it depends on your child and where he is are on the spectrum and how he will respond to the different treatments, in most case's there will be modifications to treatment to accommodate the child's requirements.

1. Parent Education and Training.
2. Social Skills Training and Speech-Language Therapy.
3. Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
4. Applied Behavioral Analysis. (ABA)
5. Sensory Integration/Occupational Therapy.
6. Medication.

Use all the resources that are available to you, talk to your therapists they are more than willing to provide information to assist with home treatment.

Never stop asking questions, wright done everything, research everything, read up on everything, and you will find your feet and the groove that works for you and your child.
