Tales of an Exhausted Autism Mom: Part X - The End of the School Year Celebration

in #autism7 years ago (edited)

We (@winstonwolfe and myself) are lucky to have a quality special education pre-kindergarten in our area who specializes in children with Autism and other disabilities.

We are also lucky to have an amazing local park board who have created the best farm-themed public park for kids and families, and every year, my son's special education school throws their End of the School Year Celebration there.

At Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park there is lots to do to keep little ones busy and engaged.

Inside the big, red barn you can find goats, there's another smaller pin with a pig family, plus a chicken coop and some turkeys. All free to families who visit!

My kiddo LOVES the tractor-tricycle race track!
Look at him go!

They even have a few stationary tractors (real ones!) that are safe for kids to climb up on and pretend to be a farmer, driving through the fields:

There's also a stocked pond for fishing;

We couldn't pass up the bouncy houses, of course!

And we ended the celebration with a parade of graduates, my son's classmates, who are bravely marching off to Kindergarten!

My boy was delighted to cheer on his classmates. He knows how hard they have worked and how excited they must be!

Next year, it will be his turn to graduate!!

Yay!!! Congrats on a great year :) This should be the norm for all schools :) It is sad that most schools don't offer an Autism program and some do but they are not run correctly. As we have discussed it is so hard to find the right services and it should not be. Autism is growing and schools have to catch up.

The trike-ter!! :D
