World's smallest MRI scan performed on single atoms

Researchers at the IBS Center for Quantum
Nanoscience (QNS) have performed the world's
smallest magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to
visualise the magnetic field of single atoms. They used Scanning Tunneling Microscope, which consists of atomically sharp metal tip that allows researchers an to image and probe single atoms. Two elements, iron and titanium, were investigated in the work.
