Promoting Steemit has been my hobby and Steem-atlas is one way I can do this effectively. It has always been what I enjoy doing. I don't just promote Steemit but also teach newbies how to go about the platform. With the surface of this new project by @pennsif, Steem Atlas has made it possible for various locations to be pinned on a map, locations that can't be found on Google Maps except if traced.

As someone who wants to apply for the ambassadorial role, I know what it takes, as I've been an ambassador in various projects, virtually and physically. Here on Steemit, applying for this role is the first thing I'm doing. Sad to say, most Nigerians barely know this project exists on Steemit.

Some that are quite aware of the project find it difficult to get the exact pinned location of a particular place. The work of an ambassador is to place this project forefront and promote it among Steemians in my country. Before elaborating on this, I'd love to talk about my history on Steemit.

Summary of my Steem history

I'm popular in my country for my creativity in creating content, mentoring newbies on Steemit and promoting Steemit on different social media other than Twitter. TikTok, YouTube, WhatsApp and Discord. I joined this platform 3 years ago, in 2021, and I've not had any bad record on the platform. I try my best to take into consideration the etiquettes involved in content writing.

My stay on this platform has been strengthened by consistency, focus, patience and determination. ** With my zeal in carrying out little tasks, I've been assigned moderator roles in two different communities and also given the role to promote Steemit memecoin PUSS on X social media. With these advancements, I've learnt by working with other users, and I've also handled a curator's account.

My achievements are basically in Steem Power growth and winning some challenges. I derive pleasure from helping others grow, and this steem-atlas is one way I can do this. As they support the project, they get supported in return.

I'm more of a writer than a public speaker, and I write mostly in the English language.I can write and speak English and pidgin English. I can also speak and write Ibibio, but as an official language, English has been my major usage.

These are the three posts I've written on Steem Atlas and more to come. I captured different places to pin last week but had difficulties with the network connection. I think it was nationwide for MTN users, 3 good days. As a proposed ambassador, I'm not just passionate about writing to support the platform alone but also about carrying my countrymen along.

Some feel that they may not be supported the way others are. It's in my place to eliminate this fear and encourage quality. Consistency is the key to getting spotlighted on the leadership board. As a proposed brand ambassador, I have prompted this project amongst Steemians in my country till when I'm given the role to do so squarely.

Last week, I received questions on my social media platform as to how one can pin the exact location of a place. The majority didn't even know the project existed. It was in my place to school them and give them tutorials on how to go about it.

Another thing is to encourage them to keep writing and not just focus on getting supported with votes but also as a way of learning other skills like geometry and other mapping techniques, as most of us weren't taught in school.

I hosted a class for newbies in Nigeria and old users. This class covered a comprehensive guide on how one can get accurate locations by comparing with Google Maps and using the embedded pins carefully to avoid getting wrong codes.

At the end of the tutorial, I gave an assignment to the newbies I taught, and to my greatest surprise, they got the exact locations using the steem-atlas map. I was impressed and then encouraged them to keep using the map even though they may be occupied with creating other content like contests, engagement challenges and the likes.

I've been able to enlighten 30 users [@alli001, @mkgirl77, @okere-blessing, @kidi40, @nsijoro etc... in my country on the steem-atlas map while trying to encourage them to keep up with their being active.

New feature I would like to see on the map

If I'm to suggest a feature that I would like to see added to the steem-atlas map, it would be visible landmarks for easy access to routes to get exact locations of places. It's not as if I'm comparing the Google Maps to Steem Atlas, but this would definitely help eliminate the problem of getting wrong location codes and pins.

With my level of understanding, I do compare Google Maps and Steem-atlas to avoid this problem most people face. Other features are very much okay, especially the aspect of the map being content-based. You can see reviews and facilities in a pinned location.

How beneficial is Steem-Atlas to the Steem platform as a whole?

I won't deliberate much on this because promoting the platform is one large benefit. Although it's still in the plan to promote this project physically in large business places and organisations, I'm already doing so. Before snapping a particular place, I'll seek permission from the management team involved that there's a map called steem-atlas which helps pin locations that aren't found on Google Maps.

It also provides an avenue whereby positive reviews are made on contents which are embedded on the map for referencing. I'll also include that I want to make a positive review of their business, and I can do this by showing people the facilities the business or company has. I'll also increase visibility and promote the business or company in the process.

My strategy would make them develop interest and ask further questions like, What's this steem-atlas, and on which platform does it run?' That's when Steemit comes. The manager of a supermarket was keenly interested in the platform through the Steem-Atlas map, and to this effect, he requested I sign him up on the platform.

I also told him about Steem, and he accepted Steem as payment for his goods. To all steemians living in Uyo, Judel supermarket is a prospective steem business partner where you can buy foodstuffs and other items and pay in Steems. When I sign him up this week, activation starts.

This is how Steem-Atlas has benefitted the Steem platform as a whole. Talking about the users of this map on the platform, their knowledge of map usage has broadened, and they visit places often in the process, which increases sociability and interaction.

Most firms and buildings in rural areas aren't visible on Google Maps and are less popular because even when told by someone, maps can't connect the place. If I'm given the role of an ambassador, I would organise a contest exclusive for rural areas where firms, buildings, schools and companies can be brought to the limelight.

Urban areas shouldn't be the bone of contention due to how facilitated they may be. Those in rural areas can also learn about Steem-atlas as a project, get their buildings pinned on the map and increase visibility. If it were possible, these concentrated areas could get a little support from Steemit in areas they are lacking, which would create awareness not just in the rural areas but on social media.

It would be like — steem-atlas ambassadors came to my school and pinned its location for visibility by residents in Nigeria and other countries. They also took our needs into consideration, offered areas of improvement and provided support for the development of technologies in schools which can be of great benefit to those living there, as they are not exposed.

Carrying out such an activity would place Steem-Atlas on social media, and everyone would be talking about it. Through this, the blockchain would be expanded, the majority would know about Steem as an investment coin and content writers would be very much interested in placing content-based locations on Steem-atlas to earn.

In my country, those silent areas speak more as they help in social media influence, while physical promotion of the project in urban areas can attract firms, investors and writers to the platform. Imagine the manager of a supermarket wants to accept steam as payment for his goods and services. He's indirectly investing in Steems.

I want to apologise for not being able to make this application before the deadline. I had written it down some days back but couldn't upload pictures, as the network was my greatest hindrance. I could only publish texts. I was very much interested in applying for this role; that's why even though I couldn't meet the deadline due to problems beyond my control, I just had to post it.

I may not be selected, but I have to make this post to pass information and my humble suggestions. Thanks to the host. I wish my application was considered.

Greetings my boss, all what you're saying here is nothing but the truth. I can vividly remember when you showed me how to spot location on steematlas, that day we went to AKMAG HOTELS. With your guidelines, I pinned the location and I was supported massively, all thanks to you. I'm sure that if you're given the chance to be an ambassador, you'll surely help your country men, and steemians outside to know more about steematlas and how to spot the right location. Don't say you won't be selected, keep your fingers crossed. I wish you Goodluck.

😁😁. My hands in the air. I keep my fingers crossed as you said. Thanks for the motivation, the encouragement and everything. You just put a fire on my bottom. I'm glad you're supporting the project and I see this as a way of promoting Steemit the way charity programs promote Steemit. Thanks for your comment.
