Astrology of the Virgo New Moon Sept 9th 2018. Birthing in the Mud on the Socialist New Moon
The Moon is now in Virgo and waning towards tomorrow’s New Moon at 17˚ 00' Virgo and at 12.02pm MDT.
This New Moon is all earth and water. I discussed it at length with Jen Duchene on the Weirdly Magical podcast.
Today though, as we wane to the New Moon, Venus is in the last/anaretic degree of Libra and squaring off to still out of bounds Mars at the last/anaretic degree of Capricorn.
Ouch!
Venus is powerful in her own sign, Libra, and is slowing to retrograde on Oct 5th as she faces her intense underworld journey beginning at 10˚ Scorpio and returning to this point twice more in the coming weeks. Mars is rogue in the sign of the rules we live by, Capricorn.
The two are going to bring disruption and tension between the yin and yang balance.
Even more when they both move into fixed signs Scorpio and Aquarius respectively and begin to perfect a fixed Grand Cross square with Uranus and Taurus and the North Node in Leo that creates even more tension. But more on that later.
This weekend is all about earth and water because once Venus moves into Scorpio around 3.20am MDT tomorrow we will have none of the main planets or luminaries in air or fire.
Earth and water is yin/’feminine’ energy and very ‘socialist’ to me which is why I half jokingly call it the Socialist New Moon.
The earthy grand trine from Pallas Athena/Mercury in Virgo/Uranus in Taurus/Saturn in Capricorn with Venus in watery Scorpio forming a kite aspect. The 17˚ Virgo New Moon opposing watery Neptune in Pisces and aspecting Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn makes this intense water/earth and muddy energy.
This takes me back to the beginning of the year where I wrote Slow Down and Sculpt.
As we approach the first New Moon after a crazy summer we get this big opportunity to create the form we wish to work on moving forward, to sculpt the new creations that come from the eclipsing of old patterns and ways of being.
Virgo is a deeply feminine sign that represents service to others and the opposition to Neptune in Pisces brings in the collective unconscious, the cosmic soup, the knowing that we are all connected and that if something happens to one it affects all.
The aspect to Jupiter in Scorpio brings breadth and depth to the transformative energy of this New Moon and the aspect to Pluto, ruler of Scorpio, brings more transformation of ‘the rules’ we live by.
I have called it the Socialist New Moon even though it’s somewhat of a trigger word here in the USA but the word is becoming more and more acceptable as people awaken to the fact that unbridled Capitalism isn’t working for the majority. This isn’t a plug for Socialism, merely an observation of what the energies are bringing into our consciousness.
The best definition of what I mean by Socialism is:
a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done ~ Merriam-Webster
But what I really see emerging is:
Democratic socialism is a political ideology advocating a democratic political system alongside a socialist economic system, involving a combination of political democracy with social ownership of the means of production. ~Wikipedia
Interestingly today, Sept 8th, is Bernie Sanders birthday. The best known Democratic Socialist in the USA. The New Moon, therefore, falls on his 10th house Sun. I may write and update to this article I wrote early in 2016.
Politics aside, I use it to demonstrate the energy of the New Moon. It’s deeply feminine, caring, transformational and has such a practically mystic quality that speaks to serving the collective.
Enjoy the new start with infinite possibilities.
Much Love
Louise ❤
