Gamosa
GAMOSA is a unique identity of the people of assam. This small piece of cloth has wide usage in assamese cultural. It it used to show the respect of assamese society. It is also known as 'Bihuwaan' as it is used as esential part of bihu.
Design: Gamosa is of rectangular shape with around 2 feet width and 4 feet in height. The raw material used for weaving it is cotton but for special occassion it is made of silk.
Usuage:
- As it shows respect for the people of Assam. So it is used to welcome guests.
- Assamese people used it in temple for praying to God.
- As Bihu is main festival of assam. So every male perfomer of bihu dance used it tieing up their head.
- Every assamese people use it as their daily used.
Gamosa is the symbol of assamese people.
