Ashes of Creation. Future of MMO's ?

in #ashes7 years ago (edited)

So if you haven't heard of it, Ashes of Creation is an upcoming MMORPG developed by Intrepid Studios and is gaining momentum very very quickly.

Recently ending their Kickstarter at an amazing $3,271,809 with 19576 backers, it has become the most funded MMORPG in Kickstarter History. The game holds a lot of interesting systems they are implementing, both in game and out. The most notable is their Node System. You can learn more about this system here:

Another aspect is the beautiful graphics. Developed on Unreal Engine, the game looks beautiful and with their own network backend they have promised seamless gameplay even with thousands of players in one place at a time. Intrepid is full of developers who have played games and as such, are very strong on their no P2W (Pay to Win) stance. The game will be subscription based with no box cost, and have a cosmetic shop.

Another interesting aspect implemented out of the game is the referral program. Intrepid has stated that they wish to reward players for spreading the word about the game, and not pay thousands for advertisement costs. As such, they are using the referral program. You will earn 15% of anything players on your referral list spend, whether is be on subscription or cosmetic shop. This money can be used to reduce your own subscription or can even be transferred to real money. That's right, you can actually make real cash through this! More on the program can be found here: https://www.ashesofcreation.com/referral-program/

The game offers so much more, and has gained momentum quickly. Are you interested? Check out their website here: https://www.ashesofcreation.com

What do you think of it?

This is pathetic, those dev want people believe their game are made for hardcore player and when you look deep how the system work its just for casual player. A mmorpg must be open world and the PvP must be possible without restriction, this is a wow-like but instead put fly mount they put restriction flag WTF

I personally disagree.

You can still be hardcore, and kill other pvp players.

This just deters people from spam killing low level people, or fighting those who dont like pvp.

PvP in this game is open, and you can kill anyone but there must be a balance. I dont want to play a game where as soon as I go out to gather or kill mobs, I'm destroyed by a pvp group.

Wow, looks good. Don't like the idea of subscription fees but it's not a big issue. It's got a few features I've been wanting for ages.

For me, nothing has beaten world of warcraft yet, so hopefully this will

I personally prefer subscription based games. Generally they are a lot less pay to win and ensure that new content keeps being introduced.

Played a lot of free to play and found myself paying a lot more than I would in a normal subscription game.
