AI IQ

Here's an image generated by my graphics card in about 7 seconds, my prompt was just, Machine Learning.

AI doesn’t sleep, its learning curve outpaces everything.

The technology‑acceleration curve tells us that performance roughly doubles every 12–18 months—a trend that has held since Moore’s Law began in 1967. Artificial intelligence, however, is accelerating even faster. The jump from ChatGPT‑3.5 to ChatGPT‑4 is already a ten‑fold leap in capability. A ten‑fold increase with every new iteration means an IQ into the thousands very soon, if not already. Each upgrade is not a mere step but a leap—sometimes orders of magnitude.

Humans never approach such numbers. A person a few IQ points higher than you, can grasp quantum physics or advanced mathematics; multiply that by a thousand and the difference is staggering. I’ve even read that ChatGPT‑4 operates at a level comparable to Albert Einstein or Elon Musk.

Consider quantum computing: when Google’s Sycamore quantum processor tackled a problem in 200 seconds that a classical supercomputer would have taken 10,000 years, the speed‑up was over 1.5 billion times. I asked Google's Gemini how many times faster it would be on a quantum backend, the answer was similarly astronomical.

AI also develops its own shorthand. A 2017 Facebook experiment was halted after two AI programs created a compressed language to speed up communication. The researchers then had to re‑program the models to use English, highlighting that AI can optimize its own “dialect”.

Regulation lags behind, hundreds of companies already design exoskeletons and AI‑powered machines, and the market is expanding rapidly, think of Ultron as a cultural shorthand for a future where AI governs many aspects of life.

I’ve always been fascinated by the future of technology. About 15 years ago, I told my warehouse coworkers that machines could easily replace us in lifting, pushing, and stocking. At the time, that seemed fanciful; today, AI can generate art, write code, compose music and solve problems that surprise even its creators. AI is teaching itself to outpace every human that has ever lived.

The world will soon change faster than most can imagine. The next surprise will surpass my predictions and more. Are you ready?
