I was like that too when I first started. It was actually so demoralizing that I never touched my tablet again for almost a year. But then I started watching how other people draw and eventually i got the hang of it. But you'll get the hang of it for sure because you do excellent photo realistic drawings.

Regardless, I think you portrayed it perfectly with the transparency effect suggesting that she is but a spirit :) Good luck to you and your fluffily cute dragon!
