Abre la Puerta! Immigration reform now.
The question of how to “manage” immigration says this: “We” cannot just allow “anyone” into our country, because how will “we” know who is here, and how will “we” be able to stay safe?
While seemingly radical, the simple answer of opening our borders is actually logical down to a spiritual scale and comes down to this: The “us/them” dichotomy is an illusion and should not be protected if we are ever going to make decisions that will move life forward in reality.

“We” have no right to be here. “We” were not here first. “We” have no right to try and protect “our own” because “our own” are not the legitimate heirs to this land. The first to arrive did not obey the law of the land when they got here and have no business pointing others to obey it now.
That this has never been reconciled in our country’s history makes justification to clamp down on immigration inhuman and immoral. Most immigrants are actually from this continent, while “our” ancestors are the foreigners from abroad.
“They” are “us.” “They” are coming here for a better life. Unfortunately, the reality is that “we” collectively created the unlivable situations from which our southern siblings are forced to flee. Instead of immigration reform, we need foreign policy reform. We need collective reflection as a society and to decide whether or not we want to live in a dope and harmonious world. Our resources can be used developing neighborhood resources, co-ops, and opportunities to organize collectively. We need education and encouragement.
If “we” want to be free to be here, and to come and go as we please, then we need to afford the same privileges to others and work on our international, interpersonal skills and become servants to the world rather than destroyers and exploiters of it. I don’t believe it’s too late, and I definitely know it doesn’t need to be this cruel.
Look at yourself, be grateful, and fight for everyone’s right to have a quality life and freedom. Fight for fair trade policies that will ensure protection for sovereign nations, land and tribal rights, and will not breed corruption that causes other humans to become refugees. Put your money toward products that do not feed conflict. Do your research on fair trade. Support the education of the next generation. This is how we manage immigration.
