Scrap art penguin
Some people might say I'm a man of many useless talents, others that I'm incredibly bored after suffering through things like this paint-by-numbers painting I finished the other day.
Hey, nice painting. I bet it would look better on my floor.
Without anything to do my mind tends to wander and my eyes to dart across the room, aimlessly searching for ways to fight boredom. Sometimes I get up and press the trigger on my battery powered screwdriver until the battery runs out of juice.
Other times I come up with little scrap art ideas that rarely look like I envisioned them in my head.
But then once in a while one of my ideas actually pans out, case in point being this scrap art penguin that came alive in my head after looking at a pile of scraps I had lying around. A good friend of mine is going through a weird phase where she likes everything looking, sounding or smelling like penguin so I figured if I could make it work I might be able to put a smile on that cute face.
While that's still to be determined I am actually quite happy with the end result.
What you need
Creativity, random parts that look like penguin and wire clippers. Don't forget googley eyes, everything is better with googley eyes.
case in point. By the way: If you use wire clippers more than once a year do yourself a favor and copy that clothespin-and-goo hack and save your hands. Thank me later
In case you are actually interested in the materials the main body was part of an adjustable shelf-on-wall-mount that can take boards from zero to hero millimeters in thickness. The snout is one half of a wall anker that expends after you shoot it into the wall. It looks like this and works exactly like this. Don't tell me you never learn anything reading my posts.
Incredibly detailed instructions
Step | Process |
---|---|
1 | Glue everything together |
2 | ??? |
3 | After you waited ten thousand hours watching glue dry: Profit |
Also needed: Paint-by-numbers-paint-buckets stabilizing the penguin.
Did you know that Penguin contains both the words 'Pen' and 'GUI'? It's like the past and the future of data input all mixed up in one clumsy bird that can't fly. Go upvote, resteem and follow me already, I spent like one hour writing about a scrap metal penguin.
Not enough? Sigh, okay fine, here's a scrap flower.
I <3 DIY! Very nice presentation as well. I'd take this lovely scrap flower any day! :)
Thank you! I had a lot of fun building it and writing the post :)
That's the most important thing :) I'll love to see your other works.
