Triple stone pendant & how i made it

in #art6 years ago

Hello Steemers!

I feel like a bit of a stranger here as it's been nearly a month since I last engaged with the site, and for that, I apologise. I have however been very busy with the wire wrapping, motivation is at a high and I'm loving creating almost every day at the moment.

Today I'd like to share this big piece I recently finished.
It took me several weeks worth of evenings to get it done, not all solid wrapping time, most artists will know a lot of time is spent staring at the work working out where to go next!

Here she is, featuring 3 different stones, Chrysocolla, Moonstone & a Turquoise/Malachite mix. All wrapped in Sterling & Fine Silver. It weighs in at 43 grams, about 40 of those are Silver for all you precious metal holders

You'll be pleased to know I got plenty of pictures

I remembered to get pictures throughout this project so you can see how I constructed it from sketch all the way to finished pendant. Enjoy

Welcome back, stranger. As always, stunning and beautiful.

@armadilloman thanks! how is everything here. i sense its gone a bit quiet with the crypto drops? or is it just because i havent been here i feel like that!?

Things have slowed down quite a bit. It seems quite a few have either left or gone dark for the moment. And that has led to much talk about "dead followers"...people realizing that their 1000 followers really only amounts to a few dozen. It only is grim in USD terms. If you look at Steem units instead, nothing really has changed.

Yes Mrs Armadilloman and I do like your work and the pendant is beautiful and she is very happy.

You aren't a kidding on the work to do a "making of" post. They are appreciated mostly, but payouts have slipped and a lot of votes are dust, so it demotivates. Posts that would garner 30-40 bucks USD 4 months ago seem to be $3-4 now and I really don't fully understand why other then more of the votes are auto curation and bots set on 1-10% power. And there just aren't as many votes either.

Steembay has been good as I keep posting without breaking my hump and do sell some for Steem. You might give that a try, just to keep your work before the Steemit audience, if for no other reason.

hmm yeh that figures. I've lost a lot of my motivation to post on here lately. the pot luck way some posts do well and others i've slaved over barely get noticed. then theres very few people worth engaging with regularly, you being one of them.
i think i'll try and stick around till christmas at least and see how im feeling then. writing and preping for posts is hard work!
hope you're well and the wife is enjoying that pendant!

This is f§($"in insane ! Awsome work and step-by-step post :) Wonderful ! Thank you very very much for sharing your experince :)

I made my first wire wrapping pendant this weekend and I really enjoyed the process and result. Today I was posting this to the @steemmakers promo-channel and saw your post above mine :D

Keep on going the greak work ! You have got a new follower now :)

thanks!
glad you enjoyed it. its a really meditative activity i find. between the frustration when things dont go the right way of course ha. i'll check your post out now

Stunning, so inspirational! I'm sure you have a plethera of stones, however I have some variety of smaller cabochons. I dabble a bit in stone cutting and lapidary... you can contact me at [email protected] if interested in any stones? I cut a Holy Blue from Oregon and keep feeling it needs a simple wire wrap than a setting..whatcha think? oh yeah and followed ya!

@kimmysomelove42 oo nice stone! would be good to have a chat and see what stones you have, i can never say no to looking at rocks! i'll shoot you an email in a second.
That holy blue would look beautiful wrapped in sterling silver and then oxidsied i reckon. do you do any wire work yourself?
I have just last week started going to the local lapidary class so hopefully i'll be cutting stones like a pro in no time ha

Hey,
you're back!
We've missed you and your amazing art ;)

Very nice! Thus far, the only wire I have tried to use has been copper. sometimes with some kind of treatment to change the surface color. What materials do you find easiest or hardest to use, assuming price is not a factor?

thanks!
Well i started with copper years ago and ive more recently moved onto silver. Its taken a while but ive got used to the silver properties but copper will always be my favourite. it just does what i want it to more often than anything else.
I can confidently say brass is the worst thing ive worked with for jewellery. its so springy even when dead soft. i've got lots of failed pieces in brass and fresh wire i dont know if i'll ever use!

It is so beautiful and gorgeous!
