CAB AT CONEY ISLAND, Arthur Robins , 1986. 4 x 6. Ink and watercolor on paper. One day in the Fall of 1986, I was in Coney Island , Brooklyn New York and did this painting on site. I sold many prints of this. it struck a cord in the hearts of many people.
.
Every night she comes
To take me out to dreamland
When I'm with her, I'm the richest
Man in the town
She's a rose, she's the pearl
She's the spin on my world
All the stars make their wishes on her eyes
She's my Coney Island Baby
She's my Coney Island Girl
She's a princess, in a red dress
She's the moon in the mist to me
She's my Coney Island Baby
She's my Coney Island Girl
thanks
Yes it has a sketched-outdoors-in-the-weather quality to it that can not be replicated in the Studio.
it does, doesn't it.....I never paint from photos, and I will do drawings outside but rarely paint. this was a rare moment
cant you just feel the off shore autumn breeze???
Yes ... and I smell the cotton candy, the taffy, the french fries and sea salt all mixed together.
I hear the pin ball machines and pac man playing in the Games Shop.
thats a riot-----that is exactly what was going on in 1986
I was in High School in 1986
