Day 6 of the daily drawing challenge

I actually did not miss a day of drawing, but I did miss a day of posting it.

I was so low energy yesterday, I could barely get out of bed. Partly because my dogs are only offering me 3 hour stretches of sleep through the night, partly because I'm finally getting over my cold, and partly because I'm trying to hammer through a particularly dark part of my WriMo novel.

Friendly Ladybug by Meredith Loughran, art, watercolors, drawing, painting

So yesterday, I broke out the watercolors and remembered a lovely bit of macrophotography that I wanted to draw, which helped brighten up my day a bit.

This was my inspiration

Please visit @jamtaylor's blog to see the entire blog post!

He has two more pictures of his "Friendly Ladybird" and I received his kind permission to use his photograph here.

Here is a different angle with a close-up of the ladybug.

I used watercolors and my black sharpie.

I was hoping for more vibrant colors but...it's watercolors, I suppose I have to expect it to be a little "washed out"

(sorry, pun intended)

Since I've been doodling, drawing, painting, and generally making a mess out of my small work table, my husband said I needed to sign my pieces.

I have to admit is was very strange to sign and date my work.

First of all, my signature is way long and writing ML in my script is kind of big. I have to admit that I do like my cursive M, so that will be my marker, I suppose. It still feels weird!

And here I am posing with the final piece.

I really love it! I want to cuddle with it! I do hope that a day of rest did you good and I am glad to see that you are back to posting!

I never knew I could have a fascination with bugs...or watercolors for that matter! LOL

who knew ladybugbirds could be cuddly!?! Glad to hear you're rested

I've got a bunch of red beetle looking bugs on my tree, but none of them have spots or nearly as cute as @jamtaylor's model. I believe there was a debate on his post about whether it was a bug or a bird.

I like your signature.....ml would have looked like "me" in cursive so the M is perfect....love the ladybug too...and I visited @jamtaylor 's blog and followed.

I'm still a little weirded out about signing it. To me it's experimenting, but hubby wants to hang them up. LOL He's an odd egg - but I loves him.

I love the softness of watercolors and the muted tones in this painting - it's really very subtle and lovely

Thank you, John!
I think you're really going to like my next one. It's today's drawing but I'm waiting for a little time between postings.

I like the muted colors. It really fits the little beetle. And you sure brought out it's personality, too. -- Hope you feel better soon, too.

Very pretty. I've always wanted to learn to water color... Never found/taken the time. Now following you. ;)
