Out on the balcony - thoughts and words by @mariandavp
What a night! I sit here on the balcony enjoying a subtle breeze after an extremely hot day and I feel I am back in the 80’s getting ready to sleep out on the balcony. Was I 5 or 6? I don’t remember. What I do remember is that I was not afraid. No one was afraid.
We had no criminality, or very mild anyway, we had neighbors we knew and loved, we had friends we didn’t need to sms or call before we drop by their house to sleep out on their balcony, and most importantly we had dreams.
I guess all young people dream. Irrespective of the decade they were born in, they dream. But who dreamt of a violent world where sleeping out would mean robbery or rape or even death? Who dreamt of a lonely world where living in a crowded city wouldn’t mean not knowing your neighbor’s name? Who dreamt of an unfair world, where people would lose their empathy and instead of wanting to become heroes they would prefer to become one of the crowds? “Mind your own business” we think as we listen to some alarm screaming in the night.
And then we act. We act as if we have a purpose. When I was taking self improvisation classes, our teacher asked us to walk slow, faster and faster BUT feel as if we had a purpose for walking at each pace. So when we had to walk slow, we had to experience the reason we walk slow. When was the last time you walked slow? I can’t remember. That was the most difficult exercise to me. So I asked her; When do we walk slow? She answered; When you are in a moment so fulfilling that you wouldn’t want to walk away from it.
I am in this moment right now. Summer. Balcony. A six year old drinking some rum ready to tell her neighbors that when she grows up she is going to be Indiana Jones discovering lost worlds full of magic.
What a beginning to my afternoon reading, this is good.
I hear you @mariandavp, the world has changed so much and yet the dreams we each have are tugging at our heart to be realized.
May you step into moments today that are so are adventure filled you walk slow to enjoy them, and still outrun Indiana Jones. ;)
Wow that's a really cool wish!!! Walk slow but still outrun Indie? OMG 😘😘😘😘😘
Haha. Have a blessed weekend! 🎥💃🏻
Who would want to be Indiana Jones when you could be @mariandavp ?
Haha everyone will think I got you on the payroll ❤❤❤❤❤
wow
Thank you!
I liked this. Good post. Good writing style.
Thanks a million @forty-two!
Sleeping on the neighbors balcony is the most sacred thing in the world!
Even if you both live in a skyscraper, and you have to climb there (like in mission impossible).
This is the moment, but you look a bit sad. Or wait maybe it's me who is sad because i want to have this moment too!? hmm... questions...
Yep! We - six year olds always have a bottle of rum with us If a special moment suddenly popps up :d
Hahaha epic... 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing your reflection on how you are feeling in the moment you are experiencing right now. Nice to hear you can enjoy that moment of wonder and awe like a 6 year old again, when the world was full of wonder, adventure and infinite possibilities… contrasted to today's violent backdrop in society, it's great that you can experience perfect harmony in the moment!
Thank you my steemit poet 😊
The past is history, the memories of something that can not be easily forgotten, the history of your life will always live not in the way of recollection, but by the way you write every memory that remains in your memory. Not all things will be the history of our journey of life can be remembered and remembered, unless we write it. By writing also, our children will know the history of his father or grandfather's life. They will learn to live in a good way, they will continue to remember our history until we are gone. Keep your memories and write down your past history as long as your memories can still remember.
You are right, when we write something it sort of gets recreated in our memory from the angle we see it whe we write. Thank you for your encouragement.
Great post! Keep it up :)
By the way, I'm following you now
Cheers
Τhanks so much, followed back!
