On the Eve

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Change. Beginnings and endings. At the threshold, on the eve of, when life morphs into something else. Do you stand and hesitate or do you dive headlong in, or will life push you?

I have repeatedly found that if I hesitate, life will push me. Fly or plummet to a nasty crash; sink or swim, what ever the context is you'd better be moving otherwise the journey is not going to be so enjoyable.

That leap of faith can be truly terrifying, but it can also be truly liberating. As they say, when you step out of your comfort zone, that is where the magic happens. Each person's level of comfort is different. That is why some can leap of a clifftop in a wing suit while for others, climbing a ladder is a challenge beyond measure.

It is more an emotional resilience than mental that will see you through. The mind's job is to help you to adapt, not attempt to control the situation. Doing the latter will result in a nasty end. The adapting part requires mindfulness of our thought loops (habitual thinnking). It is with our thought loops that we can master our emotions or become a slave to them. Where the focus goes the energy flows. Thus we can either power ourselves through the things we need to do, or build the walls of our own prison cell.

Outside of the things that are within reach of our hands, we can not directly influence anything in the world. But we can directly control what we feel. What we feel about a situation will have more influence on the outcome of a situation more than anything else. Our feelings will determine our motivation for action, and importantly right action.

Right action does not guarantee a desired outcome, but it can certainly increase the chances of it. Again, mastering how we feel will determine what we make of it and so goes the flow of life's causality. Life is what you make of it.

Row, row, row your boat,
gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
life is but a dream.

Row, row, row your boat,
gently down the stream.
Throw your teacher overboard,
and listen to them scream.
