Art Hour, Performing Arts of Indonesian Culture in Modern Packaging

Departing from the desire to develop arts and culture as a self-actualization event, Art and Culture Division (Senbud) from Student Family School of Business and Management (KMSBM) ITB held Art Hour, a show that concept art and cultural performances. The event was graced Love Field with warm decorations that can attract the attention of campus masses.

Art Hour is the inaugural event of the Division of Senbud KMSBM on Board of Management KMSBM. With the theme "Corak Indonesia", displayed various performances of music, dance, and theater with typical Indonesian culture. This theme is raised with the aim to instill a love of Indonesian culture in a fun way, through art and cultural performances in a more modern package without leaving the cultural essence contained in it.

According to Anandistya Mahesrava Rani, Head of the KMSBM Senbud Division, ITB has many interests and talents in the field of performing arts ranging from music, drama, to dance, both modern and traditional. Art Hour is one of the containers in which all art is poured in one collective stage. "Ideally, this stage aims to increase creativity and channel the interests and talents of students," explained Anandistya.

However, what distinguishes Art Hour with similar events such as Open House Unit or Art and Culture Week is inserted creativepreneur side presented in the form of talk show. "Creativepreneur is what characterizes SBM and become a differentiator Art Hour with other art events," said Anandistya. This talk show was filled by Sammaria Simanjuntak, a director and initiator of PT. Fat Pupa, a production house that has just finished producing a film, "Demi Ucok"

Art Hour presents eight performers of art by collaborating with several cultural units of ITB and performers. Some of the units that co-operate Art Hour are Student Theater Studies (STEMA) ITB featuring theater drama, collaborative dances between Lampung Culture Unit and Dance and Karawitan Javanese Art Society, and the appearance of Minangkabau Art Units. Voicenotes, a band of music unit Art Appreciation, did not miss enliven Art Hour by bringing some songs.

"Hopefully the friends who attend Art Hour can gain additional insight into art and culture, not only about the cultural treasures of the nation, but also in entrepreneurship in the arts and culture," concluded Anandistya.
