Sonia Delaunay
"About 1911 I had the idea of making for my son, who had just been born, a blanket composed of bits of fabric like those I had seen in the houses of Ukrainian peasants. When it was finished, the arrangement of the pieces of material seemed to me to evoke cubist conceptions and we then tried to apply the same process to other objects and paintings." Sonia Delaunay
According to wikipedia: Sonia Delaunay (November 14, 1885 – December 5, 1979) was a Ukrainian-born French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris and, with her husband Robert Delaunay and others, cofounded the Orphism art movement, noted for its use of strong colors and geometric shapes. Her work extends to painting, textile design and stage set design. She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of the French Legion of Honor. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonia_Delaunay

Thank you for introducing me to this influential woman. I love that she incorporated her designs onto fabric/garments. You weren't kidding when you said she was well well ahead of her time...to think she was doing all of this is in the early 1900s is wild! ♡ She was truly a revolutionary lady.

Wow, this was a great post friend, I’m so blessed that I seen you post this on @deemarshall’s Steemit Art Centre. I had heard of this wonderful artist but never checked out her artwork. Wasn’t she something? Wonderful designs, the artwork on the vehicles was so awsome. Why don’t you see cars painted like that? There all so boring , looking the same. You would think that a car company would try something like that wouldn’t you ?Thank you @jazzresin for sharing, nice work on presentation the photos were amazing!
