I have always loved the symbolism behind the "tree of life" - I even did a large canvas of it once... well, it was my version of it anyway. My late mom once bought me a silver necklace with a tree of life pendant, but sadly it broke.
It is a lovely looking gate, but most of all - like I say, I love the symbolism behind it. If you could find a way to have it done to your existing gate, I think that would look amazing.
Pretty sure a metal works company would be able to assist with that.
