Peacock feather (graduate work)

in #art7 years ago

I wanted to share with you my work that I did for my final year in art school that is called "Peacock feather".

I finished decorative glass art, that I had huge passion for, glass was beautiful, cold and limitless. So I chose to study how to work it and create something beautiful out of it. I never saw myself as an artist, but I wanted to become specialist in this field.

After 2 years I realized that it is not for me, but I didn't want to quit, so I finished what I started and in my last year I made something, that I'm really proud of.

The project art was created by me, but without a huge help of my uncle that is a smith I would have never done it.

Peacock motive greatly represents Art Nouveau. Now Art Nouveau is forgotten, its graceful lines and nature, that is why its decided to remind about it using this glass and metal composition for interior „Peacock feather“.

„Peacock feather“ composition consists of table and mirror which are made of metal by years and years working blacksmith master, also there was a search and creative process to make an exclusive designs for metal work. Table glass basis are engraved with peacock feathers and for the mirror so it could full fill its function only edges where engraved just as its metal mirror reflection.

Final work is made for classic interior it will give Art Nouveau sensation. Every detail of the work is made by hand – from glass to metal. Every metal feather has glass drops on them, that is why it spreads warmth.

Every feather was smith with a hammer to make its texture and every glass engraved feather was created feather like wooliness.
