More Modo Modeling for Steem Wars
I have modeled two ships for the Steem Wars Dronefly crew, the Dronefly itself and the Maverick. There were some changes desired on the Dronefly, namely the larval stage of a dronefly, upon which the general shape of the ship is based, has a tail, like this.

So I fired up Modo and had a tinker around until I came up with this.
Now, you may be asking yourself what the hell is that part halfway down the tail? I was sent this precision engineered diagram from @rhondak with details of how this would dock with the Maverick.

Such wow
After resizing the Maverick and modeling the docking section, @rhondak was happy with this result.
I then exported the models and took them into Keyshot for rendering.
I actually rendered two passes, the main one then an ambient occlusion pass to add deeper shadows. Here's the AO pass for that image.
It can be a subtle effect, but here on the left is the image with AO added - a multiply layer in Photoshop - and the right image has no AO.
I also rendered a couple of other views and composited the AO on them too.
Click on any of the renders to see the full size results.

This is fabulous! Now to write the docking...
Steemwars has gone into the future then? :D
Guessing those ships are either huge or that docking stem is made of some really stern stuff, I feel like it's going to snap off if you're not careful. I love the Maverick!
