Painting a Wood Heart with Chocolate & Step-By-Step
Hey Steemians! I'm back with a little interesting entry for today. A painting of a Wood Heart covered in chocolate, which I did as an illustrated asset used for the last children's book I've been working on.
First step: Visual Research
The process is really easy once you understand textures, shape and color. For this I always make a bit of a research or a mood board. I recollected a few images that helped me to have a better idea of what I needed.
Second Step: Sketching
Once the visual research is done, is easy to sketch the overall look of the heart. Just needed to indicate myself the textures.
Third Step: Grey filling
I made a quick grey flat filling as a base for coloring. This is done because the Heart was needed with transparent background.
Fourth Step: Coloring
Took the palette based on the references and with the "Nikko Rull" brush started painting.
Fifth Step: Chocolate
After coloring the wooden heart, I created the chocolate syrup with a flatter brush.
Sixth Step: Effects
Finally added some lightning, and extra texture.
If you want to detail a bit more the process, you can check the video below to see the speedpaint of this art work, it only lasts about 30s :)
