Random Topic Friday: Excersising ideas to develop your drawing skill

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Do you want to do daily or constant drawings but lack ideas? Than this could maybe help you.
I have the problem myself, I want to excersise my drawing skills but I am pretty uninspired from time to time. No matter how or what you draw it will help you to develop your drawing skill. Do you have another suggestion for this list? Please let me know, I am very curious how other artists get their ideas for excersising.

In no specific order, here is my list of excersising ideas which I collected during the years:

1. Jar-Char

I have seen this „Out of the jar drawings“ at Cheryll Boehms Instagram Page for the first time, but I noticed soon that you can use different ways for the Jar. It works by pulling small notes with drawing promps on it. You can use single notes with a description like „Draw your family“ or like Cheryll Boehm, notes with different colores for more possibilities. Put a Character (Animal, Real, Fantasy, normal Person), an attribut (weak, hot, cold),a thing (Plants, Weapons, Clothes) on a note. Pull 3 different colored notes out of the jar. This is an example. You can add as many as you like to create a scene.

This can help you to draw whole scenes not only one thing.

2. Alphabet

This is easy. Every day draw a thing, animal, plant or a character with the current letter. For example: A for Aladdin on the first day, on the second day it would be B like Banana go on with C etc.

3. Contests

There are a lot of Contest on Steemit or other platforms. You will get a task and have to work with the specifications. Sometimes it is a bit frustrating because there can be a lot of awesome artists in the contest but it is for the fun. Don't forget this.

This can help you to draw something you are unfamiliar with. To leave the comfort zone helps you develop your drawing skills

4. Draw yourself

Saw this on Instagram from different artists. I used smoedraws picture for example. It helps you mostly to evolve your character drawing skill.

5. Art Promp Generators

When you google you will find Generators wich offers Art Promps. This is for the lazy persons.

6. Challenges

Something like inktober, March of robots, Magical march and MerMay. 30 Day challenges and so on. You can google for it, you will find a lot of ideas and topics. The good thing is, you can do a style for a whole month, a special tool or color etc., not only a drawing specification.
