Have A Cigar: A small, personal art project.

in #art6 years ago

I have a slight obsession for Cigar boxes. Every time I run across one, at a yard sale, thrift shop, flea market, or wherever, I almost always buy it. They are handy to keep art/craft supplies, nuts/bolts, what-knots, & believe it or not, Cigars. About two months ago my wife happened upon one while she was out & bought it. I thought it was really sweet of her to think of me. I decided this box was special & I would make a stash-box from it (for stashing “legal” stuff only. nudge, nudge, wink, wink). I just finished with the majority of the paint work. I still have a few details & touchups but it’s close enough to finished. I figured I would go ahead and share it as it is.

This is lovely! I like the design (same as your current avatar!) and the beautiful golden-yellow on black! I can't imagine how you got all those lines straight, especially the long border lines, but you did it and it is fabulous! whoo hooo! 😃

Thanks for the compliment. As for the lines, I used a very precise ‘machinists’ square & a pencil to mark out where the inside & outside of the borderlines were. Then, I used narrow masking tape & an Xacto knife to mask everything except what I wanted exposed for the yellow. I took a lot of patience. Thankfully, I enjoy tedious work. I think it feeds my OCD.

I wonder if the cigars were made with honey?

LOL I don’t even remember what the brand was. That would be an awesome coincidence though
