BOOMTOWN MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL 2017!! (Part 1) – The effort the organisers put into this unbelievable!!
This year we got to play hackers and join the resistance! Every year Boomtown Festival gets more mind-blowing and immersive. Over the next few posts I’ll be going into detail about what makes this festival so special. Boomtown organisers use the festival as a platform for highlighting and mirroring the best and the worst things about our own existence in the world. Boomtown encourages each festival goer to have their own alter ego that they parade as for the weekend. This year they truly outdid themselves. Boomtown is a town spilt into several boroughs (stages) each with its own well thought out themes and music genre. Boomtown festival, based in South Hampton, England, sells around 60,000 tickets, making it one of the largest non-corporate in the world. All money from ticket sales goes back into next years festival.
In this post, I’ll be going over this year’s Boomtown theme "Behind The Mask" (HOSTILE CORPORATION TAKEOVER).
In this year’s program they even commissioned a short graphic novel of the story so far and encourage you to join in in defeating the evil “Bang Hai Industries” by becoming a “hacker” and joining the resistance. See comic below:
This year a large EVIL corporation they named Bang Hai Industries "took over" the festival with an aim to enslave the occupants. Bang Hai industries swept through each section of the festival, taking over the space, threatening it with gentrification and whitewashing. The compares of each stage repeated their mock outrage throughout the festival, there was active rebellion by actors placed at specific points throughout the festival. There were also actors pretending to work for Bang Hai industries who pretended to be police, armed guards, real estate developers and health and safety officers who randomly shut down stages and cordoned places off with tape whilst waving clip boards. The Hackers, a group of rebels dedicated to bringing down the Evil Bang Hai Industries can also be found working the place.
As a festival goer, you can seek these people out and join the resistance, helping them take down and restore freedom to Boomtown.

In the next posts I’ll be going into depth about the various worlds created within Boomtown and the oddballs that inhabit it as well as pictures

Thanks for the article, I'm waiting for you to continue :)
Thanks @serkagan, there is so much I can say about this place, I really had to split it up into sections. If you ever get the opportunity to go, you won't be disappointed :)
I always love a good story when i see one...
This one is not just a story, but a story that has been brought to life in a real location, by a real community of people...
I love comics, and i threw up a sad face, when your comic strips stopped just short of the interesting part, could you continue the comic story in your next posts? I am following your account now.

@abasinkanga thank you, I love a good story too. The comic actually ends there, the follow up after this is your own adventure in the festival. It gears you up to create your own ending when you get there. I will definitely touch on this in the following posts and talk through how people in the festival got involved and created their own story :)
