Madhubani paintings
Hey friends have a blessed Good Friday to all of you. Today my blog is all about the madhubani paintings. So let's start. When I saw madhubani art I fall in love with this art. And this is my first ever try on madhubani paintings.
It was so thought to paint it on pebble but my hardwork paid off. And my another try was on paper.
In this painting the woman wearing traditional clothes and jewelry, carrying GHADA (water jar) filled with the water. And she blush after seeing peacock on her way.
OK!!!! This was all about my paintings but now let me tell you about some interesting things about Madhubani paintings.
Madhubani paintings is Indian folk paintings are also known as Mithila paintings as they are created by the women from Mithila region of Bihar state of India and Nepal. Initially, women of Mithila used to decorate the wall of their freshly plastered houses with intricate, liner designs on the occasion of marriages and other ceremonies. This paintings are based on mythological, folk themes and tantric symbolism, through the central theme is invariably love and fertility. This folk art of Mithila was born in the early 1960's following the terrible bihar famine. The women of Mithila were encouraged to apply their painting skills on handmade paper, clothes and canvas for income source. The skills of Mithila women were quickly recognized by the tourists and folk art collectors. There individuals still paints with natural plant and mineral derived colors, using bamboo twigs in lieu of brush or pen. (but I used acrylic colors and synthetic brushes 😁) madhubani paintings designs are mostly of scenes from ancient epics, natural objects like the sun, the moon and religious plants and widely painted along with the scene from royal court and social events like weddings. Generally no space left empty, the gaps are filled by paintings of flowers, animals, birds and even geometric designs. It's is still practiced and kept alive in some institutions and spread across the Mithila region. I am posting some more madhubani paintings of other artists for the reference.
