Lon

This is a caricature I did of my friend Lon years ago for his business cards. Lon died this fall, of complications from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was busted up pretty good but nothing he couldn't have recovered from. No brain injury or spinal chord injuries, just lots of broken bones. After surgery on his leg he suffered a massive stroke and because he was on blood thinners, they couldn't stop the bleeding in his brain. He went into a coma and survived about a week. He's probably the person I've spent the most time in boats and cars with, we had many enjoyable drives up north over the years and spent a lot of time fishing and bullshitting together.

Lon was a masterful welder, the guys at the makers space he was involved with said that if there ever was a difficult weld involving exotic materials, they knew he was the guy to go to.
