BODY PAINTING making of & 🎨 TEACHING in 📸 SOUTH KOREA 🎬 /video & photos/
Hello from the other side, here you will see a small body painting video and making of photos from demonstrations and workshops I did in 2014 in South Korea. I have been working with South Korea since 2007.
In all these years I had around 250 Korean students. I teach a combination of design theory, how to build up a visual composition, color theory, proportions, anatomy, realistic and abstract painting. The main part is just classical art, on top of that I teach them body painting techniques and history of body painting. The history part is very important because many people don't realize that body painting in its tribal beginning is maybe the oldest artform we know on our planet.
My workshop partner is the same since 2007: WB Academy (World Bodypainting Academy).
When I was in my first art school we had very old-fashioned exercises. When I teach, I prefer to give my students examples they enjoy, have fun with. The way shades, lights work, the connection between elements, lines, planes in a design is the same with boring or interesting objects.
I was given an award for teaching and bringing knowledge in Korea.
I first teach my students to focus on the basics: no tricks, use your hands, only brushes, the colors, a nice design, very strong contrasts. Afterwards, when this part is done, they can explore more tools such as airbrush, stencils, projections etc.
In most of the cases first I teach theory, then I talk about the practical side and the paint we will be using, the next step is a demonstration painting, followed by hands-on painting with the students, I paint the whole day with them.
I will show to each one of them how to scatch it just with the brush, how to measure the proportions, will paint a part of the creature or design, let them paint alone, and come back to make corrections. I want them to get as much as possible from the time we have together.
When I teach in Vienna, I mostly teach with real objects, fruits, fresh flowers or bring the students to the Nature History Museum where we can work with animals, stones, bones etc.
When I teach in Korea, I teach mostly with photos. Sometimes, I had two classes a day, each 5 hours and 3 hours traveling in a car. This makes the work with photos the best option but I always tell them to expand their technique with painting and mostly drawing real objects.
One can talk about style after the hands are not on your way anymore but just serve and deliver quality the way you want them to.
Have a fantastic weekend.
With love & light
Bella

Hi, thank you. Me too, I am in love with South Korea and I am finally taking more time to properly study the language. There are countries I have been but have no intentions to go back, with South Korea I would love to go there every year if I could.
