Valentine's Day Card Ideas 😊
Hello!
I felt inspired since doing my last card idea design post, to create some designs for Valentine's day cards!
I felt like now would be a good time as it'll be February in a few weeks, which means it'll be Valentine's Day in a few weeks too.
(The thumbnail of this post was made using Canva).
This first design was inspired by my love of cats (of course) and older vintage designs and colours.
I like using symmetry quite often too because I feel like its really satisfying to look at, it also helps if my hands are a bit too shaky or tired because it makes the drawing a lot easier to finish in a timely manner.
I used orange cats again because they have a sweet spot in my heart, because of our little orange cat who passed away in September of last year. Next time I do some card designs with cats I'll do more varied patterns, lol.
This design is a bit simple as I also felt inspired by really minimal doodles that children typically draw with the sun in the corner, so I wanted to do something silly, playful and simple. It gives it a bit of a whimsical touch in my opinion! 😁
Here's my second design..
I'm really pleased with how this one turned out- I think it's my favourite and I think it's really cute- it's definitely a type of card design I'd love to receive because it's my favourite kind of style.
I went with a pink colour palette using varying levels of pink to try and make it all cohesive but also have certain areas stand out- I also used a much darker colour for the line art because I wanted the lines to be really bold and differentiate between the colours I used.
I used a dotted brush for the background because I didn't want it to be really plain- I like how eye-catching it is in comparison to the plain coloured background I could have gone for.
This is the third design..
I thought this was really silly, especially as someone who struggles to match my socks into pairs lol!
I went with a more muted color palette this time, and I didn't use symmetry as I wanted to do something a bit differently to how I made the other card designs.
The last design...
This is the more simple design out of all the others in this post. I wanted it to look like the doodle someone would quickly draw on a piece of tissue while on a date or something like that.
I had a more minimal use of colours this time because I felt like the colours would stand out more that way- I'm pleased with how it turned out!
Like most artists, hands are often a struggle to draw, so if I can stylize them (like I did here) it definitely helps make them feel less daunting to draw, it also makes them look more interesting!
I hope you liked my card designs I drew for Valentine's Day, I'll do some Easter ones next.
Thank you for reading!
