Hello dear friends of Steemit. Today I share with you a portrait in which I have been working for several weeks (Reason why I had not published drawings) of the face of an Irish actress called Katherine Elizabeth "Katie" McGrath. The image of the actress that I decided to draw was one that I got on Google, in which she appears as Morgana of the series Merlin. Here I leave you the image that I found in Google and the source of where I obtained:

For this drawing, as the title of the post says, I used graphite pencils. But specifically the materials that I used were the following:

  • Pencils 3H, 2B, 3B and 6B.
  • Cottons.
  • Moldable and standard eraser.
  • Sheet of paper of 120 gr / m2.

Drawing process:

I started drawing the face of Katie Mcgrath with a 3H carbon pencil, so as not to dirty the sheet of paper.

Then, with a 2B pencil, draw the lines I mentioned earlier and at the same time correct the details that were necessary so that the drawing could be seen as realistic as possible to the image. Then, with pencils 2B, 3B and 6B, add lights and shadows to the character's face.

In this step, I kept arranging details and also adding lights and shadows to the face. With that defined, I began to give realism to the neck and part of the thorax with the same pencils that I used for the face.

Finish defining the shadows and reflections of the neck and thorax. Then, add lights and shadows to the character's dress, that is, the necklace, the earring and the suit that the actress wears. With the same range of pencils mentioned in the previous steps.

As usual, for last I leave the hair, which is what I find it harder to do and that is usually more laborious. For this I used the 2B pencil for the hair base, the 3B for the slightly dark hair and the 6B for the darker hair.

First, work one side of the hair, therefore, until that I finish the right side I not drawed the hair on the other side. For the simple reason that the right side had more difficulty than the left and I preferred to do it at once.

As soon as I finished drawing the hair of the right side of the face, I started to draw all the hair of the left side. Being this side a little easier, I finished it in a single moment, that is without taking rest. By last, add more lights and shadows where necessary.

And that's how I drawed to the beautiful Katie Mcgrath, I hope you liked it as much as I did. If so, I invite you to tell me what you think in the comments. Until next time!
