An exhibition by a dear friend, Shahaf Ben Shaya, a Jewish artist who does modern Jewish art, invited me to be impressed by his exhibition, what do you say? Part 5. (original works by Shahaf Ben Shaya).
Post-Modern Jewish Art Exhibition
The next painting is called "Kiddush Levana"
This one is my favorite draw from the exhibition.
In all the paintings, the artist "Shahaf Ben Shaya" thought about turning the material into a spirit
I think you can feel it in this painting easily,
You can feel how Orthodox people assimilate in their surroundings and their clothes have become heaven, the water is climbing over them,
You can also see that each of them is as if in his own world, but they are a bunch of people.
In "kiddush levana" there is such a custom of saying hello to one another
One person says hello to another and the other person has to return peace.
In the painting you can see that one of the people makes contact with the other, that is the custom. It is also a very important principle in Judaism. In Judaism you must not be within yourself and be spiritual only. You have to pay attention to what is happening around you and be both spiritual and physical.
There is no logical contradiction in Judaism in this connection between mind and body, between family and children and even sex and learning holy things.
Moreover, the more materialistic it is, the more spiritual his Judaism is considered.
For example, in the Temple in jerusalem
The most holy things were made of the most material material - gold.
The menorah and all the vessels used by the priests were made of gold and precious metals.
The artist noted that although "kiddush levana" was done at night he could have done it on a day (art)
But he chose at night because at night there is more mystery and spirituality to his words.
great art bro awesome exhibition 😊
