RE: [Sndbox] The role of Art from the cave paintings to our society: a model

in #art7 years ago

Very interesting point of view @paolobeneforti. What do you mean by "a model" - school of thought?

Art, in our society, is not just about creating original and quality images. It is also a legacy each individual has for training his taste and to growing his identity.

The growth of each individual is a series of steps in building an identity and a personality.

I fell any form of Art expression more likely help to dissolve the "I"dentity...because the Identity has always (from my point of view) a story behind, a build-up like you said. It is exactly that accumulation of information (made in time) that deny us from Seeing the real Beauty of Art.
The mind through accumulated information will always try to classify order and compare what is seen. This way the forest could be 'omitted' because of the trees.
The Art I see around and the Art as creative process has taught me that I don't have any control, I don't have a choice...yet, one can live with this impression. As an example... I didn' choose to like red more than blue it was a fact...I didn't choose to like more Abstract Expressionism than Pop Art it was a fact. I know that touching the subject of free will can have a bitter taste for someone but "The role of Art" for me was exactly of helping me lose the impression of control, to help me to get free from the need for. I learned that instead of living 'my life' now I am Lived by Life.
...too much philosophy :)
I hope too, that my English was good enough to say what I mean :) we are on the same boat Paolo.

Best wishes!
