THE BITCOIN BATTLE
Bitcoins have been in a constant battle with other forms of currencies including other cryptocurrencies since its introduction in 2009(source: wikipedia). Many people have the idea that bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to be introduced. NO!. Somewhere around the 1980's we had firms like Digicash producing their own cryptos.
The strength of bitcoins in overthrowing its predecessors has been mainly Decentralization and Anonymity with other factors such as Security. Unlike to bitcoin, DigiCash had direct regulation on supply of coins and dealt directly with individuals which attracted pessimistic opinions.
Bitcoin has fought a ransom good to achieve its position as leading cryptocurrency, notwithstanding the speculations of its being overthrown in the next few days. Hence, it is still fighting to maintain its authority.
In my next series of articles, I'll be discussing some of these speculations and express my subjective views on their validity. This will also need your opinions in the comments section where we can contribute to each others' good.
