starting the MATE

in #argentina7 years ago

Taking mate, enjoying it and being able to share it, requires some care when preparing and priming it.
Some steps to take into account are:

  1. Heat water, then place in a thermos. Note that the water should not be warm or allowed to boil, to take "good mates" the recommended water temperature is 70 to 80 ° C.
  2. Pour yerba into the mate until it reaches three quarters of it. If you want, so that the first mates are not so bitter, you can add one or two teaspoons of sugar.
  3. Cover the mate's mouth with one hand, invert it and shake for a few moments. Return the object to its normal position. Make sure that the grass is lying on one of the walls of the mate and also forms a small hole.
  4. To start the mate, place warm water gently in the hole left in the grass. Start the mate with warm water, it will not burn the yerba and lose the taste. Let stand for a few moments.
  5. Insert the bulb into the wet socket.
  6. Once you have done these steps you can begin to prime the mate.
  7. Try not to move the bulb and always prime in the same place, this will allow you not to wet all the grass and thus enjoy more time of exquisite mates.

NOTE:

The mate can be taken in different forms: "mate bitter"; "Sweet mate" with sugar; And in case you use cold water, you can take "tereré".

Some primers usually add additives to mate to modify their taste, aroma or appearance. The most common are: honey; Orange peel or fresh or dried lemon; Mint, pepper, cedrón, peperina, boldo or other fragrant yuyo; A teaspoon of coffee; etc. It is also common to burn sugar and sweeten the mate with a portion of the candy made.

The most suitable container is and remains the pumpkin, there are different sizes and capacities.

The bulb can be of noble metals like gold or silver, or perhaps of alpaca or other metals.
