Rumah Batu Bandung 1.jpg

Rumah Ginde Batu Bandung, sebuah cagar budaya Kabupaten Kepahiang.

English Version

It has survived nearly 100 years, the building whose entire parts are made of wood is still emitting the glow of the prosperity of its former inhabitants. The classical charm of this house is getting stronger when we get inside. Two polished mahogany threaded columns support the living room ceiling. Interestingly, the color of the threaded wood is still the same as when it was made, and yet there is also a little showing signs of weathering.

At the bottom of the roof are all decorated with beautiful ornaments. At the terrace gate is also decorated with flower ornaments. The entire pillars on the verandah are round, which is certainly quite complicated to make, because the times of this house built there is no lathe. It is estimated that all these houses are not originated or worked on in the village, but in Bengkulu (about 100 km from the village).

We are sure, if this house is very strong. Counting from 1978 to 2009, Kepahiang has often been rocked by a strong earthquake that has tested the valor of this building. Do not forget, if Kepahiang itself has a tectonic earthquake center, part of the Sumatra earthquake fire trails.

Rumah Ginde Batu Bandung, a cultural heritage of Kepahiang Regency. Built 1926 ago, in Batu-Bandung Village, Muara Kemumu Sub-district, Kepahiang Regency, Bengkulu.

Originally this house belonged to Mr. Haji Ismail, a Ginde in the colonial period of the Dutch East Indies. Today the house is inhabited by one of his descendants, Ibu Hijir, who will continue to be faithful to guard it.

Ginde is the name of the village head in Rejang society. Ginde's position is usually hereditary. With the release of the 1924 Bengkulu Resident Ordinance, all the indigenous rulers of the Bencoolen Residency should not be hereditary, but must be determined by election.

Saya tertarik pada rancangan dua tangga. Cagar budaya yang harus dirawat dengan baik.

Rancangan rumah ini juga sebenarnya bukan arsitektur asli rumah Rejang, tapi arsiteknya dulu, orang Belanda, mengambil arsitektur rumah adat Palembang.
Semoga akan terawat terus.
