THE CHOICE

Now we are here, from frying pan to fire, we have been defrauded. A life insecure in the hands of political psychopaths, willing to profit from our groanings. One would wonder if their conscience has been traded in, and if our wisdom had been taken away, maybe by the Yoruba god “Esu”.
I have seen wickedness in the Nigerian political system, now we’ve all realized that “we are all slaves”. Many people would disagree with that assertion based on the denotative meaning; however, one may want to consider the connotative meaning as well. We are all slaves in the sense that our ignorance has been capitalized; we tread on a path of injustice where the guilty goes free and the supposed free men gets punished, we are all slaves.
Do you ever think of those who hardly could afford a two square meal? Those who have shelter?, those with clothes to cover their nakedness? Are you not that selfish type who cares not whether or not your neighbor has eaten, whether he's clothed or has shelter? Now they are out again, I mean the political thieves, those who rob us every time off our future and destiny. They have started distributing their weapons of enslavement. They are at it again, with an upper hand, this time stronger than before; using the current economic situation to their advantage. They have been fortified with the instruments of failed patriotism, they are like their predecessor. They represent their father, the devil. For the devil has been a father of liars, even from the foundation of the world.
The choice is ours to make and not for the system to decide, the system is corrupt and the people are spoilt. Even the saints gets tainted by the system over time, nobody is safe. They choose for us, they make a fool of us. We joy in the triumph of their wickedness, so long a time we have been defeated.
We lack unity; we are twice defeated before the war. We failed a thousand times over oneness; defeated by tribal sentiments. “Until everybody is free, we are all Slaves” I am of the “Yoruba tribe”, the other the “Igbo tribe” and another “Hausa tribe”. Separated ambitions no definiteness- astray we tread, all the way down to destruction. We have been fools for too long to have failed to realize their weapon of embezzlement. They set us on high with unrealistic promises and they throw us away like eggs and we break- without remedy.
What if we unite and fight for one cause? What if we destroy the existing system and build a new one- with the foundation of truth, the fear of God, Patriotism and integrity? What if we make a good choice? What if we decide not to be exploited ever again? What if we refuse to be tainted by the instruments of enslavement? What if we all thirst for true democracy?
They have sat on the gun powder for too long, now is the time for us to load our revolver and shoot with oneness. No party affiliation, no tribal sentiments; The Choice is ours to make and not for the system to decide. I love Nigeria.
